Position: Customs & Compliance Manager - International Freight Forwarding
Location: Tamworth
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000
Hour Mon-Fri 8:30am - 17:00pm
25 Days Holiday + BH

My client has been in offering bespoke supply chain and logistics services on a global scale to their customers for well over 50 years.

With accelerated growth across their organisation they now seek to welcome passionate, proactive and competent individuals into their rapidly expanding freight forwarding department based in Tamworth

We now seek to appoint a highly experienced & motivated Customs Specialist to join as our new Customs & Compliance Manager. with the aim of setting up a new Customs Brokerage department.

Job Purpose

To lead excellence in customs management and compliance to our customers, whilst ensuring that in providing this service, the company is fully compliant with the requirements of HMRC and other relevant bodies. This role will involve training and coaching the operations team on HMRC compliance and best practice. You will be responsible for training colleagues and then monitoring performance, making sure they are fully compliant with HMRC regulations.

Customs Manager Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

To coach, train, advise, inform and support the Account Managers on all relevant matters relating to customs procedures.
Arrange direct contact with customers requiring advice and guidance on HMRC related matters, including customer site visits if requested.
To ensure that entries are transmitted to HMRC on time and in accordance with the deadlines set by the customer services and operations teams
Responsible for monitoring that all companies within the Advanced Group are 100% compliant with HMRC regulations at all times.
To arrange, facilitate, document, report and follow up on all audits arranged by HMRC
Keep records of any breaches of customs and taxation rules that have been detected within the Company or by the customs and/or fiscal authorities in the last three years
Successfully complete training courses, on or off site, which the company may deem necessary to the role. These courses will cover customs legislation consistent with, and relevant to, the extent of your involvement in customs related activities
Monitor and record, by means of KPI's, all internal AEO related paperwork.
Lead and set standards for all HMRC related projects
Manage, monitor and coach colleagues on the bonded warehouse procedures.
Complete all applications and information requests from HMRC within deadlines specified.
Responsible for checking all payments out of Advanced Supply Chain and Advanced Forwarding Deferment accounts within 48 hours of statement received
Balance the Deferment statements monthly
You are required to keep yourself updated and informed of any legislation changes as well as ensuring the operations team are made aware of these.
Control all stock movements within our warehouses for In and Out of Bond entries.
Full training to be completed on Advanced Warehouse Management System to ensure that all HMRC regulations are being met.
