Logistics Manager

Logistics Manager – Purfleet, Essex – Up to £63,000

Our Client, who are a European Haulier are looking for a motivated and experienced Transport Operations or Customer Service Delivery Manager to oversee their Transport department, where you will be responsible for managing and leading their planning and front-line operations team.

Salary: £50k – £63k

Type: Full time

Shift: Monday – Friday – Flexibility required

Day to day:

  • Continue to drive improvements in an industry leading company who think “outside the box”.
  • Push the business forward by identifying changes and looking at implementation to achieve the desired goal.
  • Managing the front-line Operations team to deal with customer enquiries / order processing and affiliated tasks of a busy traffic desk.
  • Managing the Planning team around the country to ensure an efficient operation utilising resource in the best possible manner to satisfy customer needs.
  • Budgetary responsibility of key contracts and delivery of financial targets.
  • Point of contact for a multitude of blue-chip customers.
  • Monitor response efficiency and quality to customer enquiries.
  • Report back to directors of the business on the proficiency of the back-office and planning function
  • Integrate business objectives into local environments and build a successful team unit across the country.
  • Utilisation of project management skills to make short-, medium- and long-term change.
  • Take ownership of efficiency improvements within the current construct of the business processes.
  • Strategic planning of future opportunities.

Experience required:

  • Industry related qualification and experience.
  • Experience managing a busy transport team.
  • Experience working within a unionised environment.
  • Comfortable reporting to board level personnel and providing related reports around performance.
  • Experience of customer facing reporting.
  • Ability to problem solve and driver continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work under autonomy to push improvements within the business unit that feed into the customers goals.
  • Previous experience in Transport related planning tools
  • High level of IT skills preferred
