Ocean Freight Operator – Medway – Up to £32k

A leading logistics and transportation company, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Ocean Import Operator to join our growing team. As an Ocean Import Operator, you will play a crucial role in managing the coordination, documentation, and execution of ocean import shipments in accordance with global standards. Package

• £27K- £32K Depending on Experience
• 20 days increasing to 25 holiday plus bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage end-to-end ocean import shipments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery
• Communicate with international agents, suppliers, and customers to obtain required documentation and resolve any issues that may arise during the shipping process
• Prepare and submit customs compliance documents, including bill of lading, commercial invoice, packing list, and other necessary documentation
• Obtain and negotiate freight rates with shipping lines and other service providers
• Collaborate with the operations team to ensure smooth and efficient work flow
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date shipment records in the company’s tracking system
• Comply with all relevant industry regulations and guidelines
• Provide exceptional customer service and promptly address any customer inquiries or concerns

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Ocean Import Operator or similar role in the freight forwarding industry
• Strong knowledge of ocean import regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements
• Familiarity with shipping lines, ports, and related transportation and logistics functions
• Proficient in using logistics software and systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• High degree of attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Problem-solving mind-set and ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
• Knowledge of customs compliance is preferred
