Ocean Import Coordinator

Position: Ocean Import Operator
Location: Bradford
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000
Hours: Mon – Fri 9:00am – 17:30pm
Holiday: 25 days + BH

Due to expansion plans and new business acquisition we are now hiring for an experienced ocean freight professional to join our dynamic team of freight forwarders based in our head office in Bradford.

The Role:
You will be working within the Ocean Import Freight Department assisting in the management and development of services for importing goods from around the world. On a day to day basis you will:

Receive quotation requests from clients and agents for prices to move cargo from around the world to the UK or to another country under cross trade terms.
Use the various tariffs periodically provided to obtain the required information for the client or liaise with carriers or our agents and/or other suppliers to obtain the best price for the shipment and quote accordingly.
When forwarding the quotation to the client by the agreed means of communication ensure that BIFA Terms and Conditions are always mentioned in the body of the quotation.
On receiving the booking then liaise with our partners and carriers worldwide to arrange that shipment.
Keep the client up to date with the booking and ensure that the shipment is made as planned.
Prepare information to pass to the Customs clearance team to arrange clearance if we are arranging.
Liaise with carrier to negotiate the payment of their charges submitting to them any documents necessary to obtain release of the cargo if necessary.
