Ocean Import Coordinator – Southampton – Up to £32,000

Job Type: Full-time

Hours: 9:00am to 5:30PM – Monday to Friday

Salary: Up to £32,000

Annual leave: 22 days plus bank holidays

Job Summary:

Our client, who are a multi-site Freight Forwarder in the UK and overseas are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Ocean Import Coordinator to join our team in Southampton. As an Ocean Import Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating the importation of goods by sea, ensuring smooth operations and timely delivery for our clients. Your knowledge of import procedures, excellent communication skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks will contribute to the success of our freight forwarding operations.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage the importation of goods via ocean freight.
• Communicate and liaise with overseas agents, carriers, and clients.
• Arrange and track shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
• Prepare and review shipping documentation, including bills of lading and customs declarations.
• Monitor shipment progress and resolve any issues or delays.
• Coordinate with warehouse and transportation teams for efficient cargo handling and delivery.
• Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance of import records and databases.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and providing status updates.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless coordination of import activities.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as an Ocean Import Coordinator within the freight forwarding industry.
• In-depth knowledge of ocean import procedures, customs regulations, and documentation.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in using freight forwarding software and MS Office applications.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge in CDS is essential
