Position: Operations Manager: Freight Forwarding
Location: Holmfield, Halifax
Industry: International Freight Forwarding
Hours: Mon - Fri - 8:30am - 17:00pm
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + Benefits
25 Days Holiday + 8 BH
Operations Manager required for Global Freight Forwarding & Supply Chain Organisation in Holmfield.
You have the opportunity as Operations Manager to play a key role in building your team and growing our purpose-built site. You will have responsibility for the efficient running of the Operations departments and delivering service excellence for our high-profile, well-known retail customers. Continuing to provide effective communication, leadership motivation, training and development in line with the requirements of the business
As an Operations Manager you will be required to:
Manage daily operation for the customer contracts ensuring accuracy and daily KPI's are achieved.
Analyse daily performance indicators, encourage awareness and drive performance improvements
Manage planning, production processes, equipment and resource in accordance with company expectations and values
Lead and support the management of People resources in the Operations team
Control stock and respond to warehouse queries
Develop, implement, and review Standard Operating Procedures for all processes
Lead, manage, develop and coach the People Manager team
Maintain high standards of quality, a safe working environment and compliance always
Manage absence and attrition to achieve daily labour rate
Proactively help, support and train the team in terms of performance, welfare and conduct in line with company policies and procedures
Understanding the customers needs and facilitating change to ensure the customers needs are met
Ensure business required targets are achieved within set timeframes
Skills & Experience Required:
Extensive career history in the Freight Forwarding industry
Multi Modal operational Freight experience across, air, sea, road and courier shipments
Excellent organisational skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines
Excellent people management skills, the ability to lead a team successfully and the capability to influence those around you
Ability to demonstrate success in implementing changes to achieve "better, faster, cheaper"
Effective communication skills both written and verbal allowing you to converse with key stakeholders in the business both internally and externally
Understanding of HR policies and procedures
Ability to show an understanding of analytics & useful insights that enable acquisition & retention
An excellent knowledge of Microsoft, in particular word, excel and outlook
Previous experience of working with Cargowise or similar Freight Forwarding management systems
