Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer required to join a leading manufacturer of bespoke machinery and equipment in the Winchester area. The role will involve producing designs, performing calculations/drawings/reports to contribute to the overall completion of the project.
The project is in partnership with other companies to design build and test equipment/special purpose machinery including gloveboxes and associated equipment. It will follow the full design lifecycle within the project.
The ideal candidate must have senior design experience within the following industries; nuclear, defence, pharmaceuticals or food. You must also be a UK national eligible for/already hold SC clearance as a minimum, but ideally DV clearance. Contractors will also be considered with the right experience so are welcome to apply.
Competitive Salary - circa £39-54k DOE
37 hours a week Mon-Fri 08:30-17:30 and Fri (08:30-16:30)

Responsibilities and Duties
To produce engineering designs and associated documents (drawings, calculations, reports) and ensure they are completed within the required timescales
To assist in general clerical and administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the Engineering Department.
To progress small and medium sized engineering projects, as allocated, or working as part of a team on larger projects. Most work should be carried out with minimal supervision but regular consultations with the Head of Department or other team members.
Project work, in addition to design, will include all aspects of the design process such as draughting and testing of products, as well as other organisational tasks as deemed appropriate in order to ensure timely progress of projects being worked on.
Senior Design experience within defence, nuclear, pharmaceuticals or food industries
Experience with MathCAD
SolidWorks, CAD / Autocad experience.
Strong mathematical and engineering calculations ability (Hand calculations, Ansys, FEA experience)
Degree, HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or similar
