Transport Planner required for a leading UK Transport company based near Harleston

As an experienced Transport Planner you will have sound geographical knowledge and experience planning and dealing with Transport UK Wide.

Sound geographical knowledge and experience of routing vehicles is essential.
General Haulage experience ESSENTIAL
Pallet Network Background would be considered

Package:
Monday - Friday
9am - 6pm
£25,000 - £30,000

Transport Planner - Reports only to Transport Manager

The Role:

Manage the fleet and allocated budget for the proposed order
Report to the Transport Manager the absence from work of drivers and staff.
Direct drivers for loading and unloading of consignments, goods and means of transport
Respect the law on road traffic and the traffic of goods
Communicating with drivers, subcontractors, managers & key personnel
Negotiating contracts to reduce costs and achieve maximum efficiency.
Providing accurate routing information to ensure that delivery times and locations are coordinated.
Accurately calculating supply costs in relation to each movement or transaction.
Obtaining quotes for transportation and also making cost comparisons.
Establish relationships with clients in pursuit of sustainable business relationships
Ensuring compliance with all current legislation and regulation

You must have experienced in the following :

General Haulage
UK Distribution.
Road haulage industry.
Driving regulations for HGV , Working Time Directive, Driving Hours etc.
Experience of Route Planning & Scheduling
Experience of Transport Management systems
Excellent Communication Skills
